A few words from us about buying and selling motorboats.

Selling

Of course there comes a time for all of us when we make the tough decision to sell our classic motorboat, here at Finding your Fairey we will make it as easy and painless as possible for you. Please do think about the way you present your boat. Remember, you are not selling 4 tonnes of mahogany and cast iron, you are selling a dream of calm waters and sunny days, gin & tonic and heading off to dinner in pink trousers and blazer.  If the boat is not in regular use, then remove your personal possessions, no prospective buyer wants to see your old toothbrush!

We do not suggest you undertake a full maintenance program to bring the boat into tip top order all set to win the Fairey Owners Club concours, but we do suggest the boat is clean, a green teak deck will not help to sell the dream.

Occasionally, people selling their boat prefer to do so without the publicity, if you wish to sell, but would rather keep the matter 'bottom drawer', then just let us know, you can rely on our discretion.

Buying

If you are lucky enough to be in that exciting time of buying  boat, then do think ahead, especially the wooden boats, but even the GRP ones need a bit of forethought. Where will you keep it? What is the budget for buying the boat and for maintenance? Who will maintain it? Are you the type of person that wants to step onboard turn the keys, cast off the lines and head towards the sunset? Or perhaps you like to load the car with tools and trestles on Good Friday morning and head to the boatyard with tins of varnish and tubs of epoxy.

If you can't see what you are looking for, then do get in touch, some sellers are a little shy, we just might know of the perfect boat for you. Its not unusual for a Fairey to sell without ever hitting the open market.

Most of all, remember that we are here to help, but not just in the purchase process, we are always on hand to support your journey, whether its delivering the boat, showing you how to moor backwards in a marina or order seals for the stern glands, we are here.  We have a close network of experienced Fairey trades that we can recommend.
